How I let go of holiday stress & returned to energy, balance & breath

How I let go of holiday stress & returned to energy, balance & breath

Breathe, Relax, Let Go! Happy Wellness Wednesday Friends! 🙂 After the chaos and energy-focused Christmas and school holidays, I realised how much I had compromised my daily self-care practices for other “stuff” that really weren’t a priority. Did you do that too? As soon as I realised my energy, enthusiasm and moods were diminishing I took the warning signs to heart and immediately returned to my heart centre and breath. I knew I was missing and needed my daily self-care of meditation, full breath and mindfulness to keep on top of my self-talk, exercise and food choices.  So I shifted priorities to nourish myself first, and very soon balance

Do you measure your worth by your weight?

Do you measure your worth by your weight?

Worth Your Weight Bathroom scales. Do you have one? We don’t have a bathroom scale in our house. I’ve not weighed myself in years. I don’t look to one for punishment, judgement or expectation ANY MORE. I once relied on the bathroom scales for my self-worth. I looked to it for my daily allowance of food. I feared its’ judgement but I was compelled to step on it and wait anxiously for my result. My whole mindset and mood was determined by that number. The thing now is that I no longer measure my self-worth by a number on the scale.

Let Go in 2014 – Your New Years Resolutions

Let Go in 2014 - Your New Years Resolutions

I Choose to Let Go! In life we accumulate so much “stuff”. Some would call it baggage: emotional, physical, mental, spiritual. We focus on the bad things, carry past hurts and resentments, and rarely stop to alleviate the burdens we carry along the way. We tend to overwhelm ourselves with all that needs doing, everything we want to change, thoughts of not being good enough. Our minds are incessantly firing worrying, fearful and negative thoughts all over the place. Much to our distracted conscious awareness. We are consumed by our thinking about things, people, feelings or beliefs. And we often forget that our

Merry Christmas + Happy Eating Tips on Xmas Day

MERRY CHRISTMAS + happy eating tips! It’s that time of year again – when many of us freak out at the abundant supply of festive food that is often on our “forbidden/bad/diet says no” lists. http://susieandmedays.com/html/ Personally I don’t struggle with festive food like I used to in the throws of my Eating Disorder days. I simply know what I’m eating by preparing many foods myself with whole, natural and nutrient dense freshness. If I can’t really tell what’s in the food on the serving plates I don’t eat it. I always make sure that I continue to get up and

How to Make a Dark Raw Chocolate Pizza

How to Make a Dark Raw Chocolate Pizza

Raw Chocolate Pizza Pizza was never my favourite food. I’ve since made peace with it by making my own gluten free and cauliflower versions that I decorate with fresh, whole, natural ingredients that are nutrient dense and pack a punch of flavour; yummy clean eating that doesn’t cause digestive (or emotional) upsets. Being the raw chocolatier and recipe creator that I am, it was only time that I came up with a raw chocolate version. And here it is, perfect for any occasion! Quick points: This recipe uses a similar base to my Raw Chocolate Brown Rice Puff Bites. Also

How to Make Worry Your Best Friend

How to Make Worry Your Best Friend

Worry Wars In a recent post on Facebook, Cheryl Richardson – the original Personal Growth Coach – made a lovely confession about worrying: “This morning I woke up worrying. It didn’t start out that way. I opened my eyes to bright sunlight and smiled as I felt the warmth of Michael’s body next to mine and the familiar weight of Poupon cuddled on top of my feet. My moment of bliss went to hell in a handbasket though, the moment my mind joined the party and created a racket!” Worrying is something we all do, however it’s usually at the cost of our

Healthy Sexy Slow Eating

Pleasure Eating By Marc David, Institute for the Psychology of Eating In a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism in 2009, eating a meal quickly rather than at a slow pace, diminishes the release of hormones in the gut that help create the feeling of being full. When these hormones – specifically PYY and GLP-1 are low, the unwanted result is simply this: overeating. The implication here is that the body needs time to regulate the chemical messengers that control our food intake. According to another study, published in the British Medical Journal in October 2008

Healthy Chocolate Mousse | Dairy & Sugar Free, Vegan, Paleo

Chocolate Mousse Anyone?! I do love a chocolate mousse that’s smooth, creamy, rich and easy to eat! I don’t like the feeling of a heavy, bloated, queasy and bilious tummy afterward though! Our house has a variety of tastebuds, like most families do, which sometimes means a harder task in pleasing everyone. It becomes a challenge to create something that doesn’t contain the flavour or aroma of one particular food yet still provides the texture so that everyone will love it. Even though bananas are a wonderful source of fibre, iron, potassium, B vitamins and tryptophan, Mr 12 is NOT a fan! So chocolate mousse made with fresh

Scientific Proof That Being Thankful Improves Your Health By Dr. Lissa Rankin Thursday, November 28th, 2013 On this day of Thanksgiving, people around the United States are expressing gratitude for the bounty of their lives, but many may not realize that in doing so, they are also improving the quality of their health and increasing their life expectancies. The scientific evidence is conclusive when it comes to mood, outlook, and health. Happy people live 7-10 years longer than unhappy people, and optimistic people have a 77% lower risk of heart disease than pessimistic people. But how can you become happier and more

Natural, Functional and Fun Movement for Energy, Strength and Weight Loss

Natural Movement, Real Food, Healthy Mindset Last week on my way home from a 4 day practitioner retreat on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, I stopped into Buderim Forest Park to meet with Clint and Aimee from Primal Influence. They view health and fitness from a similar holistic approach as I do, which is why I wanted to talk with them about what they do, how they do it and why. Clint came from a background of not being able to enjoy a lot of physical activity because of his size. This resonated with where I started many years ago at holding
