YES, You Are!

In my mail today was a small round badge with the words, “Tell Me I’m Fabulous” on it. The note with it said to wear the badge at least once, and then maybe pass it on to a friend, child or partner.

So this afternoon I did indeed put this little blue badge onto my comfy red dress. I also looked in the mirror and said to the woman looking back at me, “I’m Fabulous!”. It felt goofy but ultimately ’good’… and it certainly put a smile on my face.

Even though I practice positive mindsets and affirmations, I’m only human, and sometimes the little annoyances in life; things that haven’t come together as I’d planned, aren’t happening as quickly as I’d like, or just don’t happen at all, can get me feeling down.

The thoughts that go along with a low mood aren’t always hopeful or accepting. They’re more critical and defeating. With some challenges and obstacles it’s only human to initially wonder: What did I do wrong? What haven’t I done? Why is this so hard? Why isn’t this working? Why do obstacles keep happening to me?

It’s important to remember that even if something doesn’t come together the way you hoped, there’s something to learn from it: discovering the missing part; that the delay saved you from a big mistake; a better opportunity or idea came to you after that experience…

I was having an unmotivated day today, overwhelming myself with all the things I needed to do to get things moving to plan. And then I collected my mail to find a little badge with the words, “Tell Me I’m Fabulous” on it. It helped to remind me that what happens in my life is secondary to how I interpret and choose to behave toward it.

Each moment is merely a moment, it doesn’t last because a new one takes its place. I am not what happens in that moment, but I have the choice and opportunity to make that moment work for me or against me on my life journey.

Just saying those positive words aloud – I Am Fabulous! – and affirming them to myself with a slow deep breath and inner smile that turned outward, improved my whole demeanor. I went straight into my office and made those two phonecall’s I was avoiding making earlier – and I ended up regaining my mojo and confidence simply by doing and talking about what I love!

Give it a try now – YOU ARE FABULOUS!!… tell yourself with meaning and a big smile on your face!

Why the hell not…
