Colour Your Plate and Get Healthy!

I’ve always loved chopping up fresh fruit and vegetables and creating different blends of slop in my blender! Over the weekend I decided to experiment with Kale.

Here’s a pic of chopped Kale in my blender..

KALE is very high in beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, lutein, zeaxanthin, and reasonably rich in calcium. A member of the cabbage and broccoli family, it contains sulforaphane (particularly when chopped or minced) – a chemical with potent anti-cancer properties.

Blending is a quick and easy, nutritious way to incorporate a variety of nutrients, vitamins and minerals into your daily intake. Not to mention increasing your fibre content which will definitely help to cleanse and massage your internal digestive tract, helping to clear out waste. (Just make sure you’re taking in adequate water to assist!)

Look at the great variety of textures and colours in these beautiful fruits and vegetables:

Tickle your tastebuds?!

There are plenty of ways to incorporate good nutrition into your daily food intake. Blending is merely one of them – and the possibilities are endless!

Focusing on what’s available and how you can eat more colourful, nutritious and satisfying foods throughout your day is more important than focusing on the foods you’re worrying about going without.

If you know you need to change it up a bit and take greater care for what you put into your body, try starting with easy and doable steps each day.

For example:

1 – Every day this week I will add a new piece of fruit to my breakfast
2 – Every day this week I will try a new vegetable in one of my meals
3 – Every day this week I will aim for 3-4 different colours of salads and vegetables on my dinner plate

See how easy it is to make a few small changes to your eating plan?

Small consistent changes on a daily basis will make incredible differences to your overall health and weight over the long run.

What are your favourite fruits and vegetable blends?

Enjoy!
