Easy Ways to Feel Beautiful In Your Own Skin

It’s more important to recognise and embrace your own beauty, than to compare and feel like you fall short.

So today I thought I’d have a spontaneous stab at writing down what makes me feel beautiful…

This is really making me think for a moment so I’ll take a few breaths, tune in and start slowly:

  1. I feel beautiful when I smile :)
  2. I feel beautiful after a few slow, deep breaths.
  3. I feel beautiful when I meditate using personal, powerful and present tense affirmations.
  4. I feel beautiful when I eat lots of colourful, nutritious and delicious food that digests well in my body.
  5. I feel beautiful feeling the gentle caress of wind around my skin and the warmth of the suns rays when I’m out walking or running.
  6. I feel beautiful when I’m sweating and puffing after a workout.
  7. I feel beautiful in the shower after a long run, feeling the water wash over my energised body.
  8. I feel beautiful when I look after myself: meditating, eating well, thinking positive, exercising.
  9. I feel beautiful standing on the beach with my eyes closed, inhaling the fresh sea air and feeling the ocean breeze against my face and neck.
  10. I feel beautiful thinking happy, positive thoughts about what I want more of in my life.
  11. I feel beautiful after I wash and moisturise my face every morning.
  12. I feel beautiful when I look back on my life and realise just how much I’ve really grown.
  13. I feel beautiful after stretching and inhaling deeply, feeling the energising tingles swirling throughout my entire body.
  14. I feel beautiful when I feel alive.
  15. I feel beautiful when I can look in the mirror and choose to see the parts I like – knowing the rest is a work of art in progress.
  16. I feel beautiful when I smile at a stranger passing in the street who smiles back at me. Even if they don’t, I feel good that I did.
  17. I feel beautiful when I look in the mirror and give myself a smile (very powerful when you can do it non-judgmentally).
  18. I feel beautiful when I’m wearing comfortable clothes that allow me to move and feel my body.
  19. I feel beautiful when I laugh.
  20. I feel beautiful when I take pride in my appearance and respect my own self first.
  21. I feel beautiful when I listen to my body and don’t eat more than I need to.
  22. I feel beautiful now that I appreciate my body and feel more comfortable in it every day.
  23. I feel beautiful when I live with honest intentions.
  24. I feel beautiful living a life I love, true to myself and honouring my own needs first.
  25. I feel beautiful helping others make a positive difference in their lives.
  26. I feel beautiful when my hair feels healthy and soft and voluminous!
  27. I feel beautiful listening to my favourite music and singing along to it.
  28. I feel beautiful when I’m dancing, lost in the rhythm and vibration of the music.
  29. I feel beautiful when I’m grateful and can recognise the good things in my life.
  30. I feel beautiful knowing that my partner loves me for all that I am, flawed and imperfect and real.
  31. I feel beautiful knowing that I love myself and that if all else fell away, I would still love myself so deeply that I could pick myself up and start again.

WOW – a longer list than I originally thought I’d be able to come up with on the spur of the moment! And I’m still thinking of things…..

Remember: Feeling beautiful has nothing to do with anyone else. It’s more about how developed the most important relationship in your life is; the one you have with yourself.

Taking the time to think about and write down when you feel beautiful may just open up many possibilities to do more things that make you feel beautiful. Similar to when we begin to expand our awareness of gratitude and what is good in our lives.
