Reaching Your Goals on the Road Ahead

Dreams, Deadlines and Commitments

A lot of my clients have the initial worry of how far they have to go in reaching their health and wellness goals.

They focus on the long road ahead and freak out about how long it will take to get there.

We’re a growing nation of impatient (stressed and overweight) people the more modern stress takes its’ toll on our lives. We want change immediately, and what’s more, we want it to last so that we never, ever have to deal with the conflict or upset ever again!

The worst thing is that we spend so much time worrying about all the things that we want and don’t have; we worry about how many times we’ve failed in the past, and we worry about change being too hard to make.

So we give up, dream away but don’t do anything differently to change!

CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE

Worrying about the past or future isn’t going to change anything so no point getting stuck in either one.

A motivational and inspiring technique I use with my clients is to take a moment and look back ->

  • Look at what you’ve been through, what you’ve survived, what you discovered about yourself and the challenges you overcame.
  • Take a moment to recognise the feelings of satisfaction, pride, pleasure, relief and confidence in seeing your journey from a new perspective.

In looking back to see just how far you’ve come you can remind yourself – in that very moment of self-doubt – of the challenges you’ve already overcome in your life and the realisation that you WERE able to get through it all.

You CAN reach your goals.

If you think about what qualities and strengths you now posses because of that journey, the journey ahead doesn’t seem so daunting.

If you think about what you are learning on your current road, you’ll expand your awareness of a journey worthwhile. You’ll be one step closer to reaching your goals on the road ahead.

HOLD YOUR FOCUS

It’s not how far you have yet to go, it’s how you are taking each step forward NOW.
