How Mind-Body Stress is Causing Your Weight Gain

Many of you know how passionately I feel about educating everyone on STRESS – understanding what it is, your personal stress triggers, how your body responds to YOUR stress, and ways to induce the relaxation response regularly in COUNTERACTING your stress response.

Stress affects our whole body – functions and hormones – especially our weight. And weight is something that we all have issues with at some stage in our lives.

Cortisol, also known as THE stress hormone and the FAT storing hormone, is a major contributor to our excess belly fat when we’re chronically excreting stress hormones that cause havoc within our minds and bodies.

Many years ago I bought a book by John Gabriel, a Biomedical Researcher who lost over 220lbs without restrictive dieting or extreme exercise. When he was obese he even worked with the famous Dr Atkins (Atkins Diet) and still couldn’t shift the weight.

At that time in my life I was drawn more and more towards holistic approaches to my whole health and healing journey, particularly as I was still recovering from my eating disorder, Bulimia Nervosa.

This Mind-Body approach intrigued me because I already believed that my thoughts had created my reality and I was desperately trying to change them.

For the last few years I have studied more and more into mind-body nutrition, holistic living, healing, meditation, visualisation and self-care.

This insight into my own body and mind has made an incredible difference in my approach to food, my body and my life. It’s what I now share and inspire, uplift and empower my clients with to increase their insight, knowledge and self-awareness and realise their own answers within.
