Are Food Rules Ruining Your Social Life

How to Let Go of Food Rules

How many times a day do you tell yourself, “I can’t have that”?

And what happens when you tell yourself you can’t have something?…..

It’s like talking to a child: you either focus on it and want it more, question and barter with yourself until you’re worn out and give in, or just eat it in an act of defiance anyway.

If dieting has become a way of life for you then it’s highly probable all those guidelines and restrictions have left some lingering do’s and don’ts that are tangled up in your negative self-talk and dictating what you should eat, when you should and how much you should eat.

Maybe you’ve got some specific food rules like:

  • no fruit after lunch time
  • no bread after breakfast
  • no eating until the clock says it’s time (even if you’re really hungry!)

There’s probably a minefield of dieting self-talk going on up in your mind that you’re largely unaware of.

If you tune in for a moment, you’ll likely become aware of a few certain key food rules that whisper in the back of your head, any time that food is nearby.

How your food rules affect your eating choices is all dependant upon whether they’re helpful or unhelpful, healthy or unhealthy.

How you talk to yourself about what you eat makes a huge difference to your stress levels and your eating choices.

HOW YOU TALK YOURSELF PERIOD CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOU.

For today, lets unpack your unhealthy food rules so you can sort out the healthy from the downright ridiculous and start making choices that serve you and how your body prefers to be nurtured and satiated.
